Linear Shift Assembly Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) Arrangement. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the post-obit weather condition:

" Air handbag deployment

" Personal injury

" Unnecessary SIR system repairs

In order to avert the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
" Refer to SIR Component Views in society to determine if you are performing service on or about the SIR components or the SIR wiring.

" If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR arrangement. Refer to Disabling the SIR Organization.

Disable the SIR organization. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
Remove the automated transmission shift lock actuator. Refer to Automatic Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement .

Disconnect the park lock cablevision assembly (one).
The steering cavalcade lock cylinder set should be in the OFF-LOCK position.
Insert a minor screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove.

Remove three apartment head six lobed socket tap screws from the linear shift associates.
Remove the linear shift assembly from the steering column.
To disassemble the linear shift assembly every bit an assembly from the column, continue to the next step.

Remove the hexagon flange caput commodities from the gear shift lever assembly.
Remove the ball and actuator assembly (2) from the gear shift lever assembly.
Remove the shift lever clevis (i) from the back up bracket for the gear shift lever associates.

Remove the 3 TORX screws from the shift gate.
Remove the park lock cable assembly from the support bracket for the gear shift lever assembly.

Remove the hexagon flange head bolt from the cable shift cam assembly (i).
Remove the cable shift cam assembly (1) from the support bracket for the gear shift lever assembly.
Remove the cam bushing (two) from the cable shift cam associates (1).

Remove the 3 TORX screws from the back up bracket for the gear shift lever associates.
Remove the gear shift lever assembly back up bracket from the steering column support assembly.
Installation Process

Notice: Utilise the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that awarding. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the apply of thread locking chemical compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Utilise the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in guild to avert damage to parts and systems.

Install the linear shift assembly and secure using iii TORX screws.
Tighten
Tighten the iii TORX screws to 10 N thousand (89 lb in).

Important: Lubricate all of the moving parts of the linear shift assembly with synthetic grease.

Install the gear shift lever associates support subclass onto the steering cavalcade support assembly.
Screw the 3 TORX screws into the gear shift lever assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the iii TORX screws to 10 North g (89 lb in).

Insert the cam bushing (two) into the cable shift cam assembly (1).
Install the cable shift cam associates (1) into the back up bracket for the gear shift lever associates.
Screw the hexagon flange head bolt into the cable shift cam assembly (1).
Tighten
Tighten the hexagon flange head bolt to 18 N m (14 lb ft).

Install the park lock cable assembly onto the support subclass for the gear shift lever assembly.
Screw the 3 TORX screws into the shift gate and park lock cablevision assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the 3 TORX screws to 6.5 N m (58 lb in).

Install the shift lever clevis (one) into the support bracket for the gear shift lever assembly.
Install the ball actuator assembly (2) onto the gear shift lever assembly.
Install the hexagon flange head bolt into the gear shift lever associates.
Tighten
Tighten the hexagon flange head bolt to xviii N yard (14 lb ft).

Connect the park lock cablevision assembly (1) to the lock module assembly in the post-obit manner:
12.1. Place the steering column lock cylinder prepare into the off position.

12.2. Identify the shift lever clevis into the park position.

12.iii. Press the locking tab on the terminate of the park lock cable assembly (i) into the slot in the lock module assembly.

Inspect the park lock cable assembly.
xiii.1. Put the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position. The shift lever clevis should not be able to shift out of the park position.

thirteen.2. Plow the key to the run position and put the shift lever clevis in the neutral position.

thirteen.3. With the shift lever clevis in the neutral position the lock cylinder should non be able to get into the OFF-LOCK position.

xiii.iv. Put the shift lever clevis into the park position.

13.five. Put the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position and and so remove the key.

Install the automatic transmission shift lock actuator. Refer to Automated Transmission Shift Lock Actuator Replacement .
Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle .
Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
